3D printing is the process of making three-dimensional solid objects from a digital design. Because it is 3D, this object has a volume so you can hold it directly. Basically it's not much different from ordinary printing tools, it's just that the output produced is 3D. Of course this innovation has its own impact on the world of manufacturing.
At a glance, 3D printing does sound more sophisticated and revolutionary when compared to the conventional version. Even so, 3D printing turned out to have difficulties in mass production.
